If your organization is picked from the hat at the meeting,
you will present at the next meeting.
If your organization is picked from the hat at the meeting,
you will present at the next meeting.
The best thing you can do to prepare for your presentation is complete the Organization Nomination Form. Your presentation should be simple and not overly formal. In 5 minutes you should be able to tell what the organization does, what kind of impact it makes and what they will specifically do with the money given to them.
Know the facts!
You need to be able to tell the story of the work your organization does in under 1 minute. Write down what they do, how they do it and who is affected. Then wrap that around a few sentences and you’ve got your pitch.
Tell the HEART story!
Be sure to think of a way to tie in a meaningful story of the organization's work so that the group has a very clear understanding and connection to that work. As you prepare, write down: Why you are involved? Why does it matter to you? Who/what have you seen change in the times you have been involved with this organization? You can choose to bring in a representative from the organization or someone who has personally benefitted from this organization's work.
Show them the MONEY!
Where will the money go? The people in the room are ready to make a wise choice about where they donate. Deliver a description of what the funds will be supporting.
